Research interests

Computational modeling with a strong emphasis on biomedical applications, scientific computing, and multi-physics systems. Current research combines mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and data analysis, with a particular focus on cardiac dynamics.
Specific topics include:

• Cardiac electromechanics + Fluid dynamics;
• Connexins dynamics in cardiac tissue;
• Numerical simulations of defibrillation;
• Modeling of electric waves in the heart;
• Analysis of Biomedical data;
• Modeling of crystal growth in undercooled melts;
• Control and synchronization of spatially extended chaotic systems;
• Dynamics of open Bose-Einstein condensates;
• Pattern formation in nonlinear optics;
• Instabilities in fluid mechanics (patterns and waves).

This project is open to PhD and Master thesis students interested in:

• scientific computing,
• finite element methods,
• continuum mechanics,
• fluid mechanics and FSI,
• cardiac electrophysiology,
• multi-physics modeling.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in applied mathematics, physics, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, or computational mechanics.
